Workplace Technology Engineer

Red Hat's Information Technology (IT) Experience team is looking for a Workplace Technology Engineer to join us in Brisbane, Australia. In this role, you will be part of a small team that owns the delivery and third-line support of all workplace-specific IT infrastructure in the Asia Pacific Region (APAC), in particular the physical hardware. You'll be responsible for a range of infrastructure, including office-based IT server rooms, both the room itself and the hardware hosted within, physical network cabling infrastructure for entire offices, all office audiovisual (AV) infrastructure including displays, video conferencing units, smart room controls, video-over-IP, and printing devices and infrastructure. This is a significant responsibility that will require some travel, as Red Hat is continually expanding, adding offices and occasionally relocating.

  • Provide third-line support and problem management of office infrastructure for end user support teams
  • Offer hands-and-feet support of office infrastructure for other IT teams
  • Communicate with vendors and other IT teams for problem resolution
  • Coordinate and troubleshoot third-line issues in the server room or with the physical network, video conferencing, and printing
  • Help with hardware procurement related to office IT buildouts for moves and expansions, as well as ongoing maintenance of office infrastructure
  • Serve as a key technical engineering person for all office projects, including new offices, moves, expansion, refits, and integrations of offices of acquired businesses
  • Good written and verbal language skills in English
  • Business case and justification creation
  • Commercial experience with IT server rooms, physical network cabling infrastructure, AV infrastructure, and printing tools
  • Experience working in the IT industry with either a Linux background or multi-platform background including Linux, Mac, and Windows
  • Experience in an IT hardware support role, working in a technical area and interacting with customers
  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience working with external vendors and working in projects
  • Willingness to travel about one week per month
