Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • Project/Program Management experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Background in networking and/or Linux system administration.

  • Defining and migrating workloads between teams.

  • Metrics, data analysis, reporting, process analysis, and process improvement for human and automated processes.

  • Coding/scripting skills (eg, Python, Go)

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

EdgeOps provides global infrastructure support to external network operators and infrastructure partners where Google’s network meets the operator’s or partner’s network (Google Global Cache CDN). Our goals are maintaining operational health and optimising capacity in the most efficient, scalable, manner. In doing so, we balance improving the experience for end-users with the aims and business goals of our internal stakeholders. EdgeOps cares about the entire delivery stack, from the high level services, through to Network Provider support, end user experience, and the entire tech stack in between.

  • Identify, scope, and coordinate projects to improve quality and efficiency of support and infrastructure.

  • Collaborate with a wide variety of internal teams to successfully implement plans.

  • Coordinate between various cross-functional teams, set clear expectations about responsibilities, communicate with stakeholders and measure success.

  • Assist with improving application of project management across the wider team.

  • Assist with defining roadmaps and priorities.
