Your new role
Reporting to the Data manager, you will be responsible for the design and maintenance of reports published to SSRS that will both assist Hays Corporate Services with their data needs as well as provide a powerful suite of Business Intelligence Dashboard reporting to enable strategic decision-making for the greater business. Using your SSRS and SQL skills your new role will afford you the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the design and evolution of reports as well as work across the following key results areas:

Reporting

  • Design, test and deploy front-end reporting to an SSRS Server
  • Liaise with business users to ensure formatting is on-brand
  • Liaise with the Product Manager to ensure sound design decisions are being made
  • Create and manage email subscriptions for scheduled report delivery
  • Work with a number of different data sources, including:

• Microsoft Great Plains;
• D-Bit Payroll Software, sitting on a Pervasive SQL client
• An SQL Data Warehouse, housing both the Financial Data Warehouse being populated by an overnight Extract, Transform, Load process migrating data from Great Plains and a number of Online Analytical Processing cubes created off this for each financial module/sub-ledger
Backlog management

  • Design reporting solutions to cater for business needs by analysing requirements documentation and taking user’s feedback into consideration
  • Utilize TFS to record and prioritise change requests on the relevant reporting backlogs

Report server maintenance

  • Complete regular clean-up sprints as part of the reporting cycle to ensure that the report server remains free of unused and ineffective written reports
  • Maintain due diligence in all query writing on an ongoing basis to ensure that unnecessary negative performance impacts are not introduced to the environment

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will have a proven track record of creating SSRS reports and writing SQL queries and statements. You will also have experience in the following areas:

  • Relevant and current experience in Business Intelligence technologies and their application
  • Details knowledge of SQL query coding and optimisation, Excel, Report Builder and SSRS, with the ability to perform complex cross table queries, develop graphs and analytical interfaces and data extracts for reporting purposes
  • A knowledge of and experience with Power BI
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of SQL databases
  • High level of attention to detail
  • High level of planning and organisational skills
  • Strong customer focus and relationship building skills
  • Proactive approach
